1200dpi Thermal Print Head

OYO Instruments, Europe Ltd, today announce the imminent availability of an all new high resolution Thermal Imagesetter… The LIBERATOR XE 1200. The LIBERATOR XE 1200 uses a brand new thermal print head capable of true 1200x1200dpi imaging and capable of achieving screen resolutions of up to 133lpi.

The new LIBERATOR XE joins the OYO family of ThermoImpression Imagesetters which have become the benchmark for Film production for the Screenprint industry worldwide.The new machine achieves a true imaging resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, the highest ever achieved by thermal imaging technology. This is made possible via a new print head design that uses a dual nib array to produce a smaller more precise dot. Combined with a more powerful, state of the art controller board, providing enhanced nib and dot management and data control., this allows for a wider range of Print applications to be addressed as the improved resolution enables screen resolutions of up to 150 lpi to be achieved with an extended range of grey levels. This improved resolution makes the LIBERATOR XE suitable for the highest resolution Screen and Flexo applications, in output sizes from 18" to 54" wide, as well as being suitable for Newspaper and Offset litho film production as well.

The new OYO LIBERATOR XE comes with a state of the art Harlequin Scriptworks level 3 PostScript RIP running under Windows NT or 2000. This RIP includes a number of performance enhancing technologies, including Super-Cell and Stochastic Screening, new Media Saving functions as well as in RIP Colour Management and Trapping options. Connectivity has been enhanced with the addition of USB and Ethernet interfaces.

For existing customers OYO will be offering several upgrade options. Existing customers of 600dpi OYO GMAX, Autotype ASPECT and Agfa Freeway machines can have the new 1200dpi Print head retro-fitted as a straightforward upgrade. For users of the 400dpi Liberator GS and ASPECT 400 machines there are trade in options available.

OYO Instruments design and manufacture a range of Thermal Imagesetter products, using its patented ThermoImpression head technology, for the commercial graphics industry worldwide. The Thermal head system used by OYO offers a unique approach to Film Imaging that produces high quality film separations, with near perfect registration to within 0.01%, suitable for all Screen Printing and Signage applications, directly from digital files, without any chemicals. The system is very cheap to use, being typically 10% or so of the cost of acquiring film separations from a service bureau and with none of the operator costs and waste disposal costs associated with conventional imagesetting solutions.
